Miley kicked off “Bright Minded” by sharing her fans‘ #HighlightingHeroes submissions, which showcase the hard work being done locally across the country to fight COVID-19.

Miley’s first guest was founder of World Central Kitchen, Chef José Andrés. World Central Kitchen is a non-profit organization, which has served more than 1 million meals to families, frontline healthcare workers, and first responders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have expanded their work throughout the country and beyond to 65 cities in 20 states as well as 7 cities in Spain. Andrés emphasized the impact $1 can make on WCK’s efforts to source and provide food to those in need. For those unable to do more than stay home, Andrés stresses you’re doing your part.

President and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, Nancy Keil joined next to discuss what they’re doing to support their residents during this time. Second Harvest is part of the Feeding America network of food banks and is currently working with local restaurants, artists, and food distributors to provide meals to 46 counties across Tennessee. They’ve also been assisting with mask distribution and are working on home food deliveries.

Miley will continue to highlight heroes all this week on Bright Minded.
