Mahalia has accomplished so much at a young age in music, from inking her first record deal at 13 and, later, at 18, recalling the emotional roller coaster of love in “Sober.” Now, at 20, the British singer is bringing together all her experiences to accommodate her new sense of self on her forthcoming debut album. Influenced by Erykah Badu and collaborating with producer Nineteen85 (Drake’s “Hotline Bling”), among others, Mahalia uses her languid vocals to top off a jazzy R&B foundation into a sound that’s all her own. Vevo proudly reconnected with our DSCVR alum to film a pair of cool performances, “Do Not Disturb” and “Honeymoon.”
